The graduate immigration route provides those who have completed their higher education course at a UK institution with the opportunity to stay and work, or look for work in the UK, immediately following graduation.
The Short Term study visa is for those aged 16 and above who wish to come to the UK for a period of between six and eleven months to study the English language.
This visa is for English language courses lasting longer than 6 months and up to 11 months. To apply for a Short Term Study visa you must be aged 16 or over and have been accepted onto an English language course that lasts longer than 6 months and up to 11 months and includes no other subjects. The course must be with an accredited institution.
When you apply you must provide your current passport, evidence that you can financially support yourself during your trip, details of where you intend to stay and your travel plans and evidence that you’ve paid your course fees or have enough money to pay them. If you’re under 18 you will need to provide additional information including evidence that you have the consent of your parent or guardian to study in the UK.

This visa is for English language courses lasting longer than 6 months and up to 11 months. You can stay in the UK for the length of your course plus an extra 30 days as long as your stay is no longer than 11 months.
You cannot extend a Short-term Study visa, if you wish to study in the UK on a more long-term basis you may be eligible for a General Study visa.
