Spain Digital Nomad Visa Services for UK Nationals

Moving to Spain as a digital nomad? Get it right from the start.

Spain has become one of Europe’s most appealing destinations for remote workers. Its climate, lifestyle, and infrastructure, combined with the Spanish Digital Nomad Visa, offer a clear route for UK citizens to live in Spain while working remotely.

But while the visa is designed to be flexible, the underlying rules are detailed, the documentation is demanding, and Spain is well-known for its slow and paperwork-heavy administration. Small errors can delay an application for months or lead to refusal. That’s why proper legal advice is essential before you begin.

At Latitude Law, we offer a free initial consultation to help you understand whether you qualify for a Spanish Visa and what evidence you will need.

Spanish-qualified, Spain-based native lawyer with UK experience

Our Spanish digital nomad services are led by Javier Álvaro Culebras, a Spanish-qualified Abogado, native Spanish speaker, and experienced UK immigration caseworker who has lived and worked in both countries.

This dual perspective means you benefit from:

  • A lawyer who understands how UK professionals work and how to explain it to Spanish authorities
  • Someone based in Spain, able to act locally and deal with Spanish procedures in real time
  • Direct communication with authorities and agencies in native Spanish, reducing delays
  • Clear, jargon-free advice in English, tailored for remote workers and global professionals

Spanish bureaucracy can be slow, inconsistent, and demanding,  but with an Abogado who knows both systems, you avoid the administrative traps that catch many applicants.

What the Spanish Digital Nomad Visa allows

The Digital Nomad Visa offers a legal path for non-EU nationals who work remotely using telecommunications technology. This includes:

  • Employees of non-Spanish companies
  • Freelancers or contractors with international clients
  • Business owners with a company registered outside Spain

How to qualify for Spanish Digital Nomad Visa

To qualify, applicants typically must show:

  • A stable remote role or active business relationship
  • Sufficient income (linked to the Spanish minimum wage thresholds)
  • Relevant professional qualifications or work experience
  • Private health insurance valid in Spain
  • A clean criminal record

The visa may be applied for:

  • From outside Spain, via your nearest Spanish Consulate
  • From inside Spain, if you are already legally present

Successful applicants can obtain residence for up to three years, with the option to renew and eventually progress to long-term residence.

Full relocation support after your move to Spain

Getting your visa approved is only the beginning. Spain requires several additional registrations, and failing to complete them correctly can cause problems with landlords, banks, healthcare access, and tax authorities.

We offer optional relocation support to help you settle quickly and correctly, including:

Número de Identificación de Extranjero (NIE)

Your unique tax and identification number in Spain, required for banking, contracts, utilities, property arrangements and much more.

Empadronamiento (address registration)

Local address registration with the town hall, essential for healthcare, school access, and supporting many administrative procedures.

Registro de Ciudadano Extranjero (TIE Card)

Your official residence card proving your legal right to live in Spain. Without it, you cannot legally remain long-term.

Additional support includes:

  • Opening a Spanish bank account
  • Assistance with rental or property purchase
  • Initial tax registration and compliance guidance
  • Introductions to trusted Spanish accountants and notaries

You can choose only the steps you need, or opt for full end-to-end relocation support.

Tax considerations for Digital Nomads

Spain’s digital nomad framework may allow access to a special tax regime, often compared to the “Beckham Law,” enabling qualifying individuals to be taxed as non-residents for a limited period.

Whether you qualify depends on:

  • Your employment structure
  • Where your clients or employer are based
  • Your role within your company

We provide initial guidance and work closely with specialist Spanish tax professionals when detailed advice or filings are required.
