Husband and wife with differing options advised on their return to the UK

The Challenges Faced

Dr. T and Mr. W, a married couple, faced complex immigration challenges after relocating to the UK with their children following several years living and working abroad. Dr. T, a Greek national, had studied extensively in the UK and accumulated over five years of residence. However, her prolonged absences led to a late application under the EU Settlement Scheme (EUSS), which was difficult to navigate due to stringent requirements in place until recent guidance changes. Mr. W, with British heritage, needed a clear path to formalize his status upon their return.

How Latitude Law Helped

For Dr. T, Latitude Law meticulously prepared evidence and detailed representations to demonstrate her continuous residence, including work and study in the UK from September 2008 to September 2020, under EEA Regulations 2006 and 2016, as protected by the Citizens’ Rights Agreement. For Mr. W, we pursued an application to register him as a British citizen by entitlement.

The Outcome

Dr. T’s late EUSS application was accepted under post-9 August 2023 guidance, securing her settled status. Mr. W was successfully registered as a British citizen. Our tailored approach ensured optimal immigration solutions for each family member.
