Remote Work & Skilled Worker Compliance for Auto Trader

The Challenges Faced

Auto Trader needed to manage multiple Skilled Worker and Shortage Occupation hires in 2023 while ensuring full sponsor compliance. The business also introduced a remote work policy specifically for July and August, allowing employees to work abroad—raising legal questions around international remote work eligibility. Additionally, a sponsored worker needed to relocate from the UK to Ireland.

How Latitude Law Helped

We managed numerous sponsored hires and delivered bespoke training to Auto Trader’s HR team on all aspects of sponsor licence compliance. Leveraging our membership in the American Immigration Lawyers’ Association (AILA), we obtained legal guidance on remote work permissions in employees’ selected countries. We advised the client to approve only those remote work requests where legal employment could be confirmed. We also coordinated the relocation of a sponsored worker from the UK to Ireland.

The Outcome

Auto Trader maintained its sponsor compliance while continuing to lead in UK talent acquisition. The remote work policy was implemented lawfully, with clear legal parameters, and the international relocation was handled smoothly—demonstrating Latitude Law’s strategic and compliant immigration support.
