Medical visit visa approved following initial refusal in case involving past national security issues
The Challenges Faced
Client H, a member of a prominent family with substantial real estate and property management interests in the UK, had previously resided in the UK for extended periods but was living in Pakistan in recent years. Diagnosed with Stage 4 lung cancer, Client H sought a UK visit visa for private medical treatment. The application faced significant hurdles due to a prior US entry denial on national security grounds, for which full reasons could not be obtained from the Department of Homeland Security. Additionally, the initial visa application was refused, not on security grounds, but due to unfounded concerns about proof of family relationships and activities in Pakistan.
How Latitude Law Helped
Latitude Law meticulously prepared Client H’s visa application, addressing the past US entry denial by acknowledging the inability to provide full details, in collaboration with US co-counsel Daniel Parisi. Following the initial refusal, we advised Client H and his family on the viability of judicial review versus re-application, highlighting timescales and prospects of success. Based on this advice, Client H opted for a new application, which we prepared swiftly with enhanced evidence.
The Outcome
The re-application was successful, enabling Client A to secure entry clearance to the UK. His treatment at the Christie Hospital is ongoing.
