Worked swiftly to release client’s partner & young child from Border Force detention & obtain full immigration status

This case study demonstrates how Latitude Law pulled out all the stops to have a mother and child released from Border Force detention and then went on to secure their status in the UK.

The Challenges Faced

This owner of significant property businesses in France had opened a UK subsidiary, where he and his fiancée (and her school-age daughter from a previous relationship) hoped to relocate. While the client had spent time in the UK prior to the Brexit implementation date, and was therefore able to secure pre-settled status easily, his partner was not so fortunate. She was ineligible to apply as his partner, as they had not been together long enough. She and her daughter were detained by Border Force as they arrived in the UK on suspicion of seeking entry without proper entry clearance.

How Latitude Law Helped

We swiftly dealt with this urgent situation and through written submissions we were able to secure their entry on a temporary basis. We also provided ancillary advice to the daughter’s new UK school on the restrictions on students from the EU to ensure that they were fully cognisant of the regulations pertaining to them.

The Outcome

Latitude Law went on to prepare a sponsor licence application for the client’s UK business, which has gone on to sponsor his fiancée into a genuine role. The credibility issues this arrangement raised are obvious, and were successfully negotiated. Ultimately full entry clearance was secured for mother and daughter.
