The Challenges Faced

In 2025, Ms K, a Ukrainian-born US citizen, faced hurdles applying under the Ukraine Family Scheme due to her lack of a Ukrainian passport and discrepancies in identity documents. Proving ordinary residence in Ukraine before 1 January 2022 was complicated, as she had returned to Ukraine only in November 2021 after 20 years in the US.
