I am an NHS worker, am I entitled to an automatic extension of my visa?

Frontline NHS workers and their dependents, including midwives, radiographers, social workers and pharmacists, with visas expiring between 1 April 2021 and 30 September 2021, may be eligible for a free visa extension. Those benefitting from this extension will be identified by health and care employers across the UK. Please note that if your visa is due to expire after 30 September 2021, or if you are changing employer, you cannot extend your visa for free.

Dependent family members whose leave also expires between these dates may also be eligible for a free extension.

Any NHS workers who have paid for an unresolved application will be offered the option of a refund. If you are eligible for the automatic extension but have already applied and had a decision, you can also claim a refund for a year’s worth of fees by emailing the UKVI NHS team. The Home Secretary has also confirmed family members and dependants of healthcare workers who pass away as result of coronavirus will be offered immediate indefinite leave to remain.
