What are the financial requirements for a spouse visa?

You must meet a minimum income threshold to apply for a spouse visa to join your partner in the UK. The current threshold states that your sponsor must earn a salary of at least £18,600 if you’re applying on your own. If you wish to bring dependants to the UK on a spouse visa, this amount increases by £3,800 for your first child and £2,400 for any additional child.

The financial requirement doesn’t have to be met through income alone, and can be met through a pension, non-employment earnings and savings of over £16,000. If you have secured employment, or currently work in the UK, you will also be able to contribute to the household earnings required.
