Gemma has been with Latitude Law since it formed in 2007; before that she worked alongside other founder members of the firm at Robert Lizar Solicitors. She joined the casework team in early 2011, qualified as a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives in 2015, and was admitted to the roll of solicitors in August 2017. She became a Partner in 2021 and is a Law Society accredited level 2 caseworker.

Gemma has particular expertise representing businesses sponsoring overseas workers across all work routes, including the complex service supplier and expansion worker categories. She has broad experience representing religious organisations with their sponsor licence queries, and helps many Ministers of Religion and Religious Workers to relocate to the UK. Gemma also helps organisations to renew their sponsor licence, undertakes mock compliance visits to ensure that organisations are meeting their sponsorship duties, and regularly provides advice in relation to right to work checks.

Alongside business immigration matters, Gemma also helps individuals with preparing family applications/appeals, nationality applications, entrepreneur applications, student / graduate applications, and other immigration applications, such as innovator, youth mobility scheme etc.

Gemma is recognised as a key lawyer in Latitude Law’s Legal 500 Rankings, with three of her clients being referenced as key clients of Latitude Law. She has acted as a mentor in the Manchester Young Solicitors Group / Manchester Metropolitan University mentorship scheme, and regularly participates in student and employer events arranged by a local university. Gemma is an American Immigration Lawyers Association international associate and has attended the organisation’s global and European conferences in recent years.

Outside of work, Gemma enjoys taking her and her husband’s 1 year old Cavapoo, Eddie, on long walks and is a Manchester City Football Club season ticket holder. Due to her and her husband’s love of It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia, Gemma has recently started to follow Wrexham AFC, and considered whether Wrexham AFC would be able to use the sponsored worker Immigration Rules to strengthen their team here.
