In what circumstances do we need to withdraw sponsorship of a student?

Home Office guidance confirms that Sponsors should withdraw sponsorship in certain circumstances relating to unauthorised absence, inability to contact the student, the student’s permanent departure from the UK or the if the student is breaching conditions of their leave.
In response to the Coronavirus crisis, the Home Office have confirmed that Sponsors do not have to withdraw sponsorship where a student is unable to attend for more than 60 days due to Coronavirus, but intends to resume their studies. Decisions on whether to withdraw a student from their studies continue to be the responsibility of Sponsors so it is for you to decide whether you consider that the Student’s actions are due to exceptional circumstances. If they are related to the Coronavirus outbreak then it is likely that the Home Office will agree that exceptional circumstances exist.
