Are domestic UKVCAS Application Centres open?

The UKVCAS application centres will remain open throughout the UK national lockdown. UKVCAS has ‘Essential Service’ status meaning that UKVCAS customers are legally able to leave home to visit a UKVCAS Service Point. We recommend showing your UKVCAS appointment confirmation as proof of your need to travel.

Due to recent COVID-19 issues, the following service points have been temporarily closed:

  • Enfield
  • Edmonton Green
  • Aberdeen
  • Ipswich

UKVCAS has assured applicants that the closure of the above biometric centres will not affect their visa status.

UKVCAS have now resumed their normal service for booking biometrics appointments. UKVCAS customers (except Tier 4 Applicants) can now book an appointment straight after submitting their application and do not have to wait for an invitation to do this.

Students registering with UKVCAS as part of their Tier 4 student visa application will not be able to directly book a UKVCAS appointment. They must instead wait for an email from UKVCAS confirming next steps. This is because UKVI are assessing which students are eligible for biometric reuse and able to use the IDV app, or which still need to attend an appointment. The IDV app will allow some Tier 4 Applicants to upload their photo and documents via the app rather than attending an appointment.

Service Support Centres have now reopened. Applicants will be informed if they need to attend an SSC when they apply for their visa and must wait for an invitation to attend. There is currently a delay in waiting for this invitation. Please note that EUSS ID supported scanning locations remain closed.

Applicants are asked to not attend an appointment if they have coronavirus symptoms.
